For the intrepid few who believe in our values and tenets, who wish to establish a new foundation in our strong tradition and who have the spark within them to be a founder and a leader, we would love to hear from you!

The founders of Aviators Club knew that no other fraternal experience would suit them as well as one tailored for their bond. With the understanding they shared and the symbols that brought them together, they crafted something entirely new that would properly express this brotherhood. Becoming a founding family is a chance to walk in the founders’ footsteps and shape the fraternal experience.

FOUNDING FAMILY

The Aviators whose names are immortalized on a chapter’s charter are the founding family of that chapter. Those honored on a charter play a decisive role in shaping the culture and traditions of the chapter.

WHY START A CHAPTER?

Starting a chapter allows Aviators to act with reasonable independence from other chapters under the guidance of the Grand Council. New chapters may be established at a physical premises, such as an academic institution.

With the right guidance and effort, a provisional chapter will grow and blossom into something much bigger than the family who built it. This is a unique opportunity to form a fellowship and develop its traditions.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR ESTABLISHMENT

The tenets that guide our membership go further to shape how we approach the establishment of new chapters.

Rowdy Boys Only

Known for forging our own paths, the initiative and strength to begin something new is part of who we are as Aviators.

Detentioners Only

Foundational work requires in-depth knowledge of process and procedure, and the wisdom to know when it must be bypassed.

Aviators Only

Each chapter is a place its Aviators can call home. Our goal is for every chapter of Aviators Club to be a true fellowship.

Guidelines

There’s a few key requirements, and we request that you stay in close contact with the Grand Council throughout the process.

As Aviators, we do not believe in the strict necessity of process and procedure. However, we do require an opportunity to get to know all interested in joining our ranks. The steps below are merely guidelines towards that end.

Provisional Chapter

Requirements

  1. To establish a provisional chapter, there must be a minimum of 5 interested potential members (Constitution, Article IV §3). This will be the interest group.

2. Each interest group member must meet the initiation requirements as set forth in the Constitution and Alpha Chapter Bylaws.

Suggested Steps

3. The proposed provisional chapter should send a letter to the Grand Council for establishment as a provisional chapter, including the following information:

  • Names of interested potential members;
  • A short biography of interested potential members;
  • Proposed Tufores of interested potential members;
  • Email address for point of contact;
  • Name and location of proposed premises;
  • Reason for establishment apart from any existing chapter.

4. The Grand Council will survey the request with the information provided.

5. Each potential member must then be approved for pledgeship by the Grand Council in accordance with Alpha Chapter Bylaws.

6. Upon approval of the establishment of a provisional chapter, the Grand Council will appoint a Chapter Advisor to guide the provisional chapter through chartering and beyond.

Chartering

Requirements

  1. In order to apply for chartering, the provisional chapter must qualify for initiation entirely according to Constitution.
  2. At least 5 members of the provisional chapter must be initiated in accordance with Constitution, Bylaws, and Ritual (Constitution, Article IV §3).
  3. The provisional chapter must adopt the Alpha Chapter Bylaws as their interim bylaws.

Suggested Steps

  1. The provisional chapter should draft and agree upon bylaws suitable to their purposes and the premises on which they operate, and present such to the Grand Council.
  2. The Grand Council must approve these bylaws prior to adoption.
  3. The provisional chapter should petition the Grand Council for installation as a Chapter.

The Grand Council must review and approve the provisional chapter for chartering.

Following approval, the Grand Council will install the Chapter according to Auxiliary Ritual, and a charter will be granted.
